Cloud architect and engineering manager — I build highly-available, high-load applications on AWS, and I love sharing the craft.

I love Python and I love AWS, and I build highly-available, high-load systems out of serverless, event-driven components — somewhere between 500 and 1,000 Lambdas across the companies I’ve worked with (300+ at Better Impression alone). I’m an AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, and with colleagues and open-source enthusiasts I maintain sosw, a framework for orchestrating AWS Lambda.

Most of all, I love to teach — which is why SOSW runs training programs for developers, alongside consulting and architecture design for complex web, event-processing, and data-processing systems.

Experience

  1. ExplorAds — CTO

    2025 – present

    Online-marketing optimization and automation.

  2. Zencity — Senior Software Developer

    2024 – 2025

In the Applied AI department — building infrastructure for product solutions that run on Zencity's internal custom models, and orchestrating data pipelines for model training, inference, and product APIs.

  3. SOSW — CTO & Founder

    2023 – present

The open-source sosw framework for orchestrating AWS Lambda; training programs on Serverless Fundamentals and architecting cloud-native applications; consulting and architecture for serverless and data-processing systems.

  4. Better Impression — CTO

    2015 – 2023

A subsidiary of Natural Intelligence. Online-marketing websites and applications, data aggregation and analysis. Designed an automated bidding system on serverless components — 50+ AWS services and 300+ Lambdas.

  5. Borets — Special Projects Manager, then CIO

    2011 – 2014

An international manufacturer of oil-extraction equipment. I started in special projects — business analysis for product-cost optimization and an internal audit of R&D and manufacturing workflows, including IT service and infrastructure — which led to the CIO role. As CIO I ran IT for the holding: a Microsoft AD forest of 10+ domains, 50+ remote offices, and 10,000+ users.

  6. Oversun-Scalaxy — Customer Services Director

    2010 – 2011

Led the customer-service department of a cloud-computing (hosting) provider: 24×7 help desk, deployment and administration of customer web applications, and customer-code optimization for the cloud.

  7. CTI — Product Manager

    2007 – 2009

One of the leading Russian telecom systems integrators, with a strong R&D department building software extensions for Cisco Unified Communications. As Product Manager I owned the development guidelines and product marketing.

  8. .masterhost — Call Center Manager, Tech Support Manager, Project Manager

    2005 – 2007

A leading Russian shared-hosting provider — my launch into real business. I built the contact center from zero into a 24×7 service of ~15 agents handling up to 1,000 calls a day, then took on the rest of Tech Support (~30 people). In my final months I managed new-product projects: an online store for domains and hosting, new VPS platforms, and CMS software rental.

Education

Speaking & mentoring

I'm passionate about the cloud and love sharing it. I've organised and led open-spaces, talks, and sprinting hubs at international conferences in the USA, Israel, and Russia, and lectured and mentored 50+ students and interns.
